Ride Into Wyoming’s
Last True Wilderness
Multi-day horseback pack trips, cowboy camps, and progressive nomad journeys based out of Jackson Hole, WY
Our Way of Traveling Through Jackson Hole
Wyoming is one of the last places where true wilderness still defines the land – vast open country, high alpine terrain, and remote valleys reachable only by horseback. It’s a place shaped by weather, distance, and time, and it demands a slower way of moving through it.
Blackjack Wilderness Co. was built around that idea. We offer immersive, multi-day horseback pack trips based out of the Jackson Hole region, from classic cowboy camps and wilderness fishing trips to progressive nomad journeys deep into the backcountry.
Days are spent riding through open terrain and high mountain basins. Nights are centered around camp: simple food, quiet conversation, and wide western skies. Every trip is designed to step away from modern noise and reconnect with the land.

Note From Our Founder
Blackjack Wilderness Co. was built around a simple idea: the backcountry deserves time, care, and respect. Every trip we run reflects that – from the routes we choose to the camps we build and the people we guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do we meet for our trip?
All trips depart from our designated trailhead in the Teton Wilderness. Once your booking is confirmed, we will provide a detailed itinerary, including GPS coordinates for the trailhead and a specific meet-up time.
What is the "3% State Lodging Fee" on my invoice?
This is a standard Wyoming state tax applied to all backcountry lodging and outfitted services. It is calculated based on the total cost of your trip package.
What kind of physical shape do I need to be in?
While our horses do the heavy lifting, mountain travel is physically demanding. You should be comfortable spending 4–6 hours a day in a saddle and capable of short hikes at high elevations (8,000’+). If you have specific health concerns, please consult with us before booking.
Do I need previous horseback riding experience?
Not necessarily. Our string of mountain horses is professional, sure-footed, and accustomed to the terrain. We provide a safety orientation and riding tutorial at the trailhead for all guests, regardless of experience level.
What is your policy on Bear Safety?
We operate in Grizzly and Black Bear country. Our camps are “Bear Aware” and follow strict USFS food storage regulations. Your guides are trained in bear safety and carry bear spray at all times. We provide safety briefings to all guests upon arrival.
What should I pack?
A detailed gear list will be emailed to you upon booking. The essentials include high-quality rain gear, layers for 30°F–80°F swings, broken-in boots, and a warm sleeping bag. For Gear Transport trips, please ensure all gear is in durable, water-resistant duffels.
Is there cell service or Wi-Fi in the backcountry?
No. Once we leave the trailhead, you will be completely off-grid. Our guides carry satellite communication devices (InReach or Satellite Phones) for emergency use and logistical coordination only.
What happens if there is an emergency?
Safety is our first priority. Our guides are trained in wilderness first aid, and we have established evacuation protocols. We highly recommend all guests purchase “Emergency Evacuation Insurance” (such as Global Rescue) for added peace of mind.
